Foodie Trek- Feb 25 & 26!!

How many of us would expect to have good food on a trek!!
My mom’s first concern was “Hey trek lam pora, saapda edhavadhu kadaikumo kadaikadho, nalla saaptu po!!” :P
Interestingly I was spellbound by the items we were distributed to carry along during my first trek! It didn’t stop there. They cook like they live to eat! Amidst nature, its the best thing that could ever happen! A slice nature, whiff of fresh air, sound of the waterfall, clothes dripping with water after the hour long pool fun, noisy chats of previous trek experiences, new friends bullying each other, holding a hot plate of Biryani! That’s how we Trek, The EMPERORS STYLE!!

If its hard to believe that’s been the sole motivation for first time trekkers who are lagging behind. “Hey seekram pona, Biryani kadaikum..” and “idho 10 mins dan!!” are the ideal words u can come across quite often from any CTC organiser. Though I cant assure the the later, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the former!!

Having earned a reputation of this magnitude, a Foodie trek from the Emperors came as nothing but a celebration of their food and the phenomenal impact it has had on our fellow trekkers. Also to hail the fact that CTC had arranged a series of treks to 19 locations on its 4th Bday! Having conquered the Nagala Territory, we were least surprised to Trek to Nagala West for our Foodie mission!! Besides Nagala is unquestionably CTC’s first home!!

A last minute decision to join a group of 40 hungry souls began on Saturday evening. Took us quite an amount of perseverance to crawl through the traffic of chennai to reach the common meeting point. After exchanging quick hi’s and hellos, nalan visarathal to a few Trek frens, we headed to the foothills of Nagala Around 11 Pm. The only thing that kept us going was the menu our organisers had leaked out to let us keep going stopping nowhere.. Strategy :P

At that time of the night, were a bunch of crazy people running around the foothills to get wood logs for campfire, setting the grill for barbeque (yess, that’s how we started the foodie trek!!), getting the watercans and big vessels out of the cars. A glance of the seasoned chicken attracted a crowd of mouth watering fellow trekkers who went all “WOWW”!!

Pardon me if I miserably fail to come out with the exact feel & taste of the non vegetarian food as am a pure vegetarian. From what my frens recounted, pls imagine the impact a ten folds higher than what I bring out in the write up :D

Parellely a bunch of people were up for preparing hot tomoto soup. Hot soup, by the campfire, ocassionally glancing at the grill to check if the food is ready, it was a perfect start to our mission in the freezing cold. Vegetarians had teamed up to save their dinner with spicy Paneer & mushroom grill!
It was hard to resist the temptation to taste, for many of us, as every now and then someone yelled out to volunteer tasting to check if d chicken was cooked. Well, it was or wasn’t, chicken pieces went missing continuosly! :D

After completing several rounds,we were finally done with the chicken & paneer dishes.A surprise, off the menu savory dish was presented by Sridhar, special thanks to him. That was all we needed to end a perfect dinner.

DAY 2

A freezing night finally came to an end. We woke to the daylight and immediatly rushed to the campfire to get warm. It was time for Hot tea and rusk, a few chit chats and we we were ready to start for the day! Our mission being very clear, little trekking, unlimited eating, maximum fun, we headed quicklyto the second pool and spent an hour or so. We had chappathis, preheated at the foothills just before we started, with yummy pickles, jam & condensed milk. A few others made an instant sandwich with Bread, previous day’s chicken, chips & pickles. Clearly we sticked to our mission to the letter T and found all possible means of making it interesting.
Stomach full, we continued to trek to the third pool where we had planned to have our Main course lunch cooked. While a few of us remained to be a part of the cooking and tasting team, another team went up to the Mini kutralam, many would agree to be the best spot in the westtrek!

The cooking team were all up for chop chops!! Menu being Emperors special Biryani, we were extra energised to make it quick. The main chefs took over from us after all the chopping of potatoes, onions, tomatoes were done. There was spicy potato fry specially for the vegetarians. On the other side was the non veg delight, mutton gravy, its hot spicy aroma filling the entire forest!! ;)

At the other side were the real trekkers, having absolute fun in the pools, diving from above, with the onlookers cheering and the shutterbugs clicking every jump of theirs. “Hey this ones for my profile pic”shouted those diving only for the photographer to miss the brilliance of their jumps. Well, this went on & on. The rest of us, non swimmers, though clearly pissed off by the swimmers & divers for the fact that it was hard for us to move with ease even with our swimming tubes on :P

We were back to the cooking area for the tasting session. It was doubtful if there would be any potatoes left for lunch as every now & then someone went about silently stealing a few pieces. A few others were unpacking the chips packets & onion pakkodas, again preference priority to vegetarians. For all those who had doubts in their minds about a foodie trek for vegetarians, it was proven wrong without any second thoughts. Kudos again to the organisers.

Finally, Biryani time with hot spicy mutton gravy & potatoes. We were queuing up to ensure we all got a plate full. It was heaven to be having a lunch that tasty amidst nature with like minded people which CTC has helped bring together.
We kept going back for various rounds, missing the count, really. The spicy mutton gravy, I heard was absolute yumm. The biryani got over in a matter of 10 mins. The whole lunch eating session was over in less than half hour. We really were a crazy lot!

We were all far too tired to even get up after the wonderful lunch we had. After relaxing for an hour or so, we started straight to the foothills.

One thing that’s absolutely disheartening is to see the beauty of this place being brought down to a dump-yard. Its proud to know that though there is a trek to Nagala almost every week, CTC has made it a point to dispose off trash and not let a single paper lying around. This is precisely the reason why the place still remains a heaven to us.
The first pool looked a total mess with all the paper plates and covers thrown by the villagers following the maha sivarathri celebrations at the temple there. We decided to do our bit of cleaning, collected the trash, disposed it off and brought the same to the foothills for clearing them.

Back from the ultimate foodie trek, it was time for introductions, againthe emperors style, where each one knows about the other so well that it turns out to be a total fun session. We realised we werent done with our mission yet. We were served sooper sandwiches with tomotoes, sauce and cucumber and soft drinks. Woww!! It was time to part. After exchanging our fb ids and propsects of next trek meeting, we headed back to be a misfit into the real world. What an experience it had been. It was one full day of absolute food and fun!! Just all we had expected & definetely more than that.
Oh, we still werent done!! We were asked to stop for a tea near Oothukotai dam. Side gap la we guys in Balaji’s jeep, stopped for a delicious paal guava!
After a hot cup of tea and a quick group photograph and final bye’s, our mission truly accomplished, headed straight to chennai.

An idea so tempting and exceuting it with so much precision, thanks to the organisers for giving us all such a wonderful time. Thanks Masu, Arun, Senthil, Bharani and every single soul who contributed in cooking us all a delicious extra special food throughout!!A special mention about the youngest trekker of the lot, 9 yr old Krithish, who was brilliant, am sure soon would surprise us becoming the youngest organiser! :)

Looking forward to more such fun treks from the Emperors!! You guys rock!!

P.S. Heartfelt thanks to the shutter-bugs - Balaji MannarKala, Santhosh Kumar & Karthikeyan chinnathamby whose art works I have liberally used without asking them an official permission. :D

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya - Not Magical!

Until a few years back, everyone had agreed that No one but Mani Ratnam alone can handle romance with class. Gautham Vasudeva menon has rightfully taken the elite
position with all his movies brimming with the flavour of love. The feeling of love has always been expressed in the most simplest and poetic ways. Its mature, clear, straightforward, patronising and SIMPLE.
If there was one question I had for Gautham, it was, "When will you direct a full fledged romantic movie?" . His movies predominantly pertaining to the action genre, has a significant but comparatively short lived love track. Everyone was ready to experience a bit more of the sweet poison.

Having aroused expectations for years, Gautham comes up with Vinnai Thaandi varuvaaya, starring Simbhu and Trisha to create magic on screen, in which he is at his best!
VTV is a simple love story, involving a complex human being jessie. "I don't know what I really want" says Trisha at one point, and that seems to be the base of the movie. She is classy, beautiful, sexy, simple, so much to let Karthik (Simbhu) fall for her even at the first sight. From then on its a typical love story narrated with beautiful dialogues. Jessie restrains her feelings towards Karthik as they belong to different religions. What follows next is a predictable love story.

Film makers, these days, have decided to strongly establish that the main hindrance for love to be successful is the lovers themselves. We saw that in Unnale Unnale. I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the two movies. Particularly the characterisation of the female lead.
Gautham has chosen to make sure the "Love" remains throughout the movie afresh, though one sided.

The characterisation of Jessie, is confusing and irritating after a point. I beg to analyse this movie as a movie, leaving aside the realities of life and arguments that girls like that do exist!
Its not evident whether love is anywhere present in Jessie's character. Hugging and smooching alone is no love. Its an expression of love. Jessie involves herself in all this and keeps questioning, "Why do you love me?".
Her acceptance of love is made authentically, openly defying her father's fame. That is the moment we feel the real story is on, only to see the same old "It is over" drama.
The goa trip sequence seemed like it was forced into the movie. Certain expressions of Simbhu was incomprehensible.
The movie ends in a dramatic way. Good thinking in bringing the telugu lead pair in the movie.

Simbhu as an aspiring director completely justifies his role. He expresses his love unconditionally and in the most romantic ways possible. His honest efforts to achieve and make a mark is evident in his subtle performance. He looks really good. His dance steps are perfect. I am impressed. Getting right on track. Way to go simbhu!

Trisha! Well well. She walks in almost all the songs, looking beautiful with well designed outfits. A bit of acting would do no harm. Perhaps that is the way she acts. Lets accept it. One scene where she does perform is the one before climax. Again, was it emotional? Not really.
Simbhu and Trisha look comfortable on screen. But the chemistry or whatever, was missing.
Ganesh does a neat job and evokes laughter. How can a famous camera man, who doesn't even seem to own a car, help an Asst director to find his love?

Saving the best for the last. AR Rahman!! This movie will be remembered for its music. Picturisation of the songs are decent. On the down side, Hosanna, Kannukul, manipaya dont fit in exactly. "Omane penne" picturisation needs a special mention.

My review might well have been out of the anger at the characterisation of Jessie. Well, Am Confused!! Things like this do happen in real life. In a movie, watching the same conversations and reactions over and over again becomes tiring.
There are three things that Gautham might have intended.

1. Expecting guys to say "Indha ponnungale epdi dan"
2. Love matters the most in any relationship and it inspires every human being.
3. A simple, feel good love story.

Its a simple story, perhaps too simple that we see in our friend's life. Magical moments are in parts. The film fails to create the magic of love through out. Gautham menon has attempted to portray "Young minds love" for the first time.

It is a nice love story. Definitely not magical!!

Ayirathil Oruvan - An Experience!!

SPOILER ALERT!!
I wanted to watch the movie “n” number of times, to be able to gather my thoughts in the first place. Why do I say that? Read on!
The movie was under the scanner for obvious reasons – Selvaragavan, The plot of the story, Karthi, undisclosed Parthiban, 2 years in the making!! This might quite sum up the speculations about the movie.
The promos of the movie displayed the hard work, efforts and patience of the team. Sheer honesty was evident in tired looking Selva’s words which convinced many to watch the movie and appreciate this untouched genre in Tamil Cinema.
Selvaragavan can walk with his head held high with pride for having made a mark with this Magnum Opus attempt! There are flaws, yes!! It’s an experience beyond everything.

The story unfolds with the news about a missing archeologist –Prathap pothan, Andrea’s father, who went about exploring the chola dynasty in Vietnam! Why Vietnam? When the disclaimer is loud and clear that it’s a fiction/Fantasy film, we could have accepted it being anywhere.
So a team is organized to find him and to carry on with the mission. Reema sen, the daring, hot lady accompanied by Azagam perumal, Andrea and a gang of hired laborers headed by Karthi, whose very looks and foul language explains his characterization.

As the team march towards the destination, they are encountered with various dangers, rather traps set by the cholas as explained by Andrea. The very idea of 7 obstacles makes the 1st half exciting and keeps the fantasy part alive. Selva needs a special mention for the characterization of both the ladies and at times even putting down karthi like the scene where he falls off while walking in the desert, the ladies walking on with a dirty look teasing Karthi. This happens not just once in the movie. Be it when reema tries to shoot karthi, or The hot conversation between Andrea and Reema, The ladies stand out!

Predictably the trio advance despite all difficulties. The quick sand scenes, the Natraja’s shadow paving way for the trio, the three turning mad and hearing voices and finally reaching the lost chola dynasty just before the interval block leaves us all mesmerized particularly with the BGM at its best in the whole movie.

The second half is pictured more like a period film, revealing the fact that, Reema belongs to the pandiyan descendant, and the entire mission has been to retrieve an idol once in possession with the cholas. The reference to the first scene is justified as she sees a whole lot of cholas still alive ruled by the prince, who was sent away during a war in the past. From then on it’s a story of Deceit and Revenge!

Even before you start wondering what the title is signifying and why is karthi even there, we get to see him emerging with unhuman powers, as the new Guru of the chola dynasty.
Reema sen, with the rest of the present day pandiya descendants, wage a war and defeat the cholas. The movie could have very well ended here, but Selva insists on showing the after war effects like the, women being ill treated, beaten, and destroyed. For what reason?
Parthiban steals the 2nd half and Reema gives a tough fight, though her lip sync is pathetic as always. She has come as a surprise with her stunning performance in the movie, True. Why is learning the language still not felt mandatory?
Parthiban as The king completely justifies his role, with the authoritative walk and looks. Scenes where he overwhelmingly announces his men about returning to their homeland, Thaai thindra manne song, trying to kill himself when Reema cheats on him are acts of brilliance by Parthiban!
Karthi, This guy is here to stay for sure with his position rising with every movie. He flirts, fights, cries, leads and what not!! He charms all the way.
The movie is in fact a visual treat. The costumes are perfect. With the given budget, no one can complain.
The little details are brilliantly portrayed which demand us to watch the movie more than once.

It’s a shame when people say “Thamizh is hard to understand, even for a person who has taken up thamizh as the main language in school”! Come on, Does it even sound like a logical reason? We are expected to know the language and it is not that hard to decipher keeping in mind the situations.

I don know what Selva originally had in mind while drafting the initial script, but surely whatever changes (If at all,)made make the movie confusing and leave us baffled about what exactly is the news he is trying to convey!
Reality and fantasy never go together; my friend’s words still ring in my head,
“I wouldn’t mind if Lord shiva appeared out of nowhere and danced a ruthra thandavam, but the second half was jus not there”
Well, it seems like the consensus! The whole movie looks like two different movies, Selva excelling in both, the point is whether they blend with each other. May be the second part which Selva has promised to make will give out a lot more answers!

Bold attempts like these need to be appreciated and welcomed. Ayirathil Oruvan has opened doors for a lot of different genres to be explored in Tamil Cinema.
Hats off to Selva and Team!!

Driving Lessons – FOC

I kept thinking very long about what to write to fill my blog, But then I dig topics from my life. This one is not about feelings or emotions. Its about the people who go about giving a piece of their mind unasked for Free Of Cost (FOC)
Advice!!! Everyone has an opinion about the other person’s life. Some seem to have better judgment over the person himself. What is right and what is wrong is purely a subjective perception, in reality it never occurs to people that two human beings are different.
Right!! Now the story!
Some people are so passionate about giving free tips for (supposedly) reckless drivers.

Last week I was riding my bike in a very congested market place in my area. Normally I assess my driving in situations like these and I was pretty content about how I got my way out despite the traffic. There came a middle aged uncle with his daughter behind in a scooter riding as slow as he could. No problems with that, keeping in mind the narrow path in which each one of us tried to fight our way out. Since there were people walking to my left I had to be careful not to hit anyone ;) I had to slightly turn right since the pedestrian crowd grew in number. Mind you, I turned may be an inch.
I heard a voice, but I didn’t turn back.

Traffic was still there and it was slowly clearing. Someone driving beside me said “Left la cut panna theriyanum” in a commanding tone.
I completely ignored it, used to the regular phenomenon of people’s comments on the road. I drove ahead since the traffic cleared to some extent.

Vandi otta therinja mattum podadu ma, paathu ottanum” I heard the voice again. I was getting irritated now. I looked to see the gentleman, and it was that uncle in the scooter.
I spontaneously blurted out “Thanks uncle, thanks a lot” in a clearly harsh tone.

To my shock he literally stopped his scooter abruptly before me that I had to stop as well. I was clueless about what was happening. There was traffic building up behind me. People looked with curiosity at me, its is always fun to watch someone fight on the road, no matter how late its getting.

He said “en ma, paathu po nu dana sonnen? Sonna kovam mattum varudu?"
What the hell, I am not the one who would listen to someone’s words and be silent when I haven’t done a thing wrong.
I was half surprised and half furious about him that I replied back,
ungala enna na idichena? Edukku theva ellama pesareenga?

Clearly not expecting me to give him a reply he said,
appo idicha dan sollanuma? Ungalukkulam advice panna pidikkade!! Ozunga ottanum nu dana solrom”. I don’t know if it can be called Concern for me, as he had a daughter himself. He seemed to me more like the men who purposefully give free lessons about driving as a principle. He was determined to make me regret for what I said.

I replied him sharply, “Ok uncle. Adha naan paathukaren. Naan epdi ottanum nu kathukaren. Neenga kelambunga!” and started off without another glance.
I could see the girl clearly embarrassed about the whole incident. I felt pity for her.

The point is, all these men prefer girls as their targets and not a guy. The scene would have been if there was a guy. There are two possibilities. Either he would have asked the person to shut up and mind his business. Or, the guy would have kicked off from the place in the maximum possible speed right in front of the person who dared to advise.
Perhaps to avoid the insult, girls are preferred to offer free driving lessons relying on their listening skills.

Narrating the whole incident is not to make people reading feel that am an arrogant girl repulsive to advices or that I drive badly (which is not true ;))!! I do take genuine advice from genuine human beings. I have silently taken driving lessons from anonymous men about switching off the headlight before turning off the bike, not to use the sidestand and stuff. (I am unsure about these terms when it comes to bikes. It serves my purpose of taking me places and that’s all I am aware of.)
It tests my patience to listen to some third person, on the road, when I have done nothing wrong, just because I am a girl! Generally we don’t speak out, ignore such comments and turn a deaf ear, not to hurt anyone. Though not always!! I don’t entertain this for a person who goes about advising for the sake of it!

I am thankful to all those who offer these little suggestions to girls specifically. Honestly, we are better off without them.
For others, Thanks and keep up the good work.

The Art of "Appreciating"

“Hey! You look really good today” is one comment that we love to hear over and over again. One way to touch a woman’s deepest emotion and evoke a smile in what-so-ever situation or mood is to heartily appreciate her looks. I am completely ignorant about how it works with men though. Men never crave for it as a women does, except from the woman he loves.

Its important for women to be appreciated, identified, studied, discussed. Yes, she needs all the attention in every way possible from her loved ones in all aspects of her life. Looks and beauty have that extra craving for obvious reasons.
It feels lovely being at the receiving end. Have we ever wondered how it is like to be on the other side? Well, if you are one of them, who find it really hard appreciating someone, admit it. Its not an easy job to do.

Appreciating a fellow human being is one of the hardest tasks. Its one of the “Universal feelings” that I have already referred to. Time for self-introspection. When did you last appreciate a person’s work whole heartedly? This person should not be your Friend!
The question is, how often have we even made an attempt to praise some one’s work?
Its not that we don’t want to, we simply are not used to it. Very few of us think of specific ways to make others happy. Appreciating is definitely not on a women’s list! We see men do that a lot naturally. You know why?

The general conviction goes like this,
When a guy comments on the looks of a girl, he tries to impress her.
When a girl comments on the looks of another girl, she is putting herself down, admitting that “You surely look better than me, and I am jealous!”

Sounds stupid? This is exactly what runs into a girl’s mind. There’s another version of it.
The girl might indeed be beautiful and subject to raving compliments already. Appreciating her? “Oh no!! Her head is already weighing more than it should be, I don’t want to add to her burden!”

There’s one more version. The “Instant Absurdity” strikes. When someone does genuinely compliment us, we tend to blush and say, “Thank you. Why, you look great too”!
Craziest thing to do. By doing so you are only making the person feel embarrassed. Many choose the indirect way. “Hmmm, kalakkara po” in a sarcastic tone. This only leaves the other person guessing what you are trying to convey.

We hardly sit back and think all these minute things, but it makes a lot of difference in Life.
Everyone wants to be liked, more importantly, to know that. Expressing and sharing feelings adds on to the strength of a relationship. Most of all, it makes someone Happy! Makes them feel important. Speak out the fact, tell people what you like about them, appreciate their good work and see for yourself the change in you.

My Mornings!!

It’s the best time of the day!! Filled with positive energy and hopes. Travel in the morning has always been an absolute delight for me. Specially, when I know the rest of the people are still sleeping, missing this moment of joy!!

I am so very associated with this morning traveling in all stages of my life. It took me some time to get used to Morning-meaning-4 Am fact.
I am not one of those who get up early in the morning JUST to download a movie!! Man, how do you guys do it?
Nor have I ever got up for walking/ playing badminton stuff. Those come under “Plans that never got executed” List. Mind you, it’s a big list.
I am leaving studies out of this. That is for the reader’s interpretation.
So it has always been for not-so-happy reasons like school, classes and work.

I know its difficult to get up early, but the moment we step out of home, all we feel is “Its worth it!!” Something about the fresh air, cool breeze, empty streets, barking dogs (Now that shouldn’t be in the list), make life seem beautiful.

All that you need to make a half hour travel in train/bus pleasant:

1. Jannal ora seat, which everyone as a child craves and fights with their siblings even the day before. We can never cal those fights silly even as grown ups, can we?

2. An I pod/Mobile to listen to songs. Now, I prefer a Mobile only to keep you guessing about what the next song will be. You never know, a series of your favorite songs may pave way for a wonderful beginning of the day!

3. Not so annoying/sleeping/staring co-passengers.

4. Always carry change in case of traveling in a bus. Once you have given a hundred rupee note to get a 4 rupees ticket, half hour will pass looking for/at the conductor pleadingly, expectantly, angrily to get back the change.

5. Plan your day. All the nice things to be done. In life too.

Apart from all the fun, it also enlightens us on a lot of things. There are people sleeping on the streets, pavements and railway stations, waking up to the horn sounds. Not to the mobile alarms or mom’s pooja bells or dad’s yells.
We are all blessed and fortunate. Make the best out of it!!

Early Morning travel is an experience!! Cherish it!!

CONFRONTING THE FORMER .....!!

How do you feel when you think of your Ex-boss? Ex-Best Friend? Ex-Enemy? What if you run into an “Ex” on a pleasant day?? What will be your spontaneous reaction?? Well I believe it is another universal feeling like Love and pain??!!
“Damn it, I had to meet this person to ruin the rest of my day!!” is what you would say?

For many, it is an awful feeling to confront the formers. Particularly for no big reason. It can be simply accounted for revisiting the past, which no one wants to do. This “Ex” person will always be involved with an unpleasant incident of our lives, that we don’t want to meet him/her for the rest of our lives. That’s when fate laughs at you.
The moment the person appears before us, a million things run into our minds.
One feels embarrassing, cold, awkward, betrayed, sad, helpless, miserable and what not!!
The intensity varies with the relationship you once shared with the person and after how long this confrontation takes place.
There might be instances when you run into one of your “Ex-friends” who tops the “Hate list” and you had to look terrible THAT day while all you wanted was let the person know their absence in your life is least important!

We dont always “part ways” with our formers. Its always, never turning back attitude. Break ups are never official! Its always changing the mobile numbers, Mail id’s, Bus route, train timings, avoiding common friends and a big list which we are so good at. In most of the cases its not even a good bye. Things are left unspoken only to give room for interpretations that always blame the other person.
How simple will things get if only we chose to talk our mind out? So that we never have to feel bad for what happened? Never having to treat “Ex” persons as a nightmare??

Certain things in life go unanswered many a times. When the time does come for the answers, how good we stand up to the situation and speak out is left to be seen.
“If only I have a chance to get things straight now….How stupid I was then!!!” is all we keep telling.
We might still have our Ex-best friend’s phone number, but refuse to talk to them. “Come on, its never going to be like before” is another convenient excuse.
It hurts at the bottom of the heart when we miss our once best friend. It takes a great deal of courage to speak out and settle things. Courage not to confront the other person, but to confront ourselves, our past, our mistakes. True, it will never be like before, but still. It can make a difference.

While “Ex” so and so always is a headache, make sure you never want to add anymore on the list from now on. Its not going to be easy hiding away from all the people you know!
If you do want to make a difference in life, pick up your mobile and dial the long due call!!

Cheers to Friendship!!!

Aadhavan--Review

This movie from the very beginning failed to create any kind of expectations in me really, though am a great surya fan! All this Surya turning a MASS hero stuff don’t appeal to me personally!
Right, about the movie now!!

The combination did evoke curiosity amongst the public. Ks Ravikumar-Surya-Haris? Wonder why Ksr turns so flexible with the actor he works with. Its obvious that Surya would have wanted Harris to score the music. So the team looks perfect with Udhayanidhi Stalin as the producer after Kuruvi! Vadivelu for the comedy part. Nayanthara plays the lady love of the hero! This combo certainly was much awaited.
Saroja devi and a lot of people form the so called FAMILY that we get to see only in the movies. The director wastes no time explaining the relationship, thank god!

The story starts off like a typical masala entertainment with punch dialogues, intro song, fit hero etc. Right from the start we find the movie shaky. Life of a ruthless killer, expert as he got to be. Aadavan is assigned a job of assassinating a judge by a super cool anonymous person. Our hero fails to execute the same for the first ever time in his life. He wants this man dead and so finds his family, gets into the house with the help of vadivelu and.. does nothing really. Now that will be explained in the Climax. Flashback reveals that hero is the son of the Judge himself and all the while he has been trying to save his father. The Climax involves a very risky fight sequence between the anonymous agent who wants the judge dead. Now this climax is something we jus cant take. If entertainment means illogical action sequences then to hell with it. Surya falls into the petrol pond (sorry I jus don’t understand what that place is supposed to be, with petrol stored in a syntax tank), happy that he saved his father. And the next shot we see surya walking down the steps, and they lived happily ever after!!

One person who scores and emerges as a true winner is Vadivelu. Honestly, after kandsamy people expected his portion to be another crap but man, he proved everybody wrong. What a performance. He has evolved so well as an actor and it shows. Not a single scene was boring when vadivelu was around. The boat sequence just explains his ability to take the movie forward with so much ease. If people still remained in the theatre its not because of surya or nayanthara but Vadivelu the true hero of the movie.

Nayanthara has nothing to do really. Love track was a mere explanation to fit in 3 songs in the second half. Saroja devi madam, kannadathu paingili. Well, no comments really!! This lady deserves an appreciation for letting her mocked about her makeup. Ramesh kanna, its his story and he gotta be there. Surya’s dad, did his part wel. Anand babu’s role was not wel crafted.
Haris jayaraj!!! 2 songs were good. Vaarayo could have been shot outdoor. Hasili Fisili, best of all. Honestly, how long are you going to repeat your tunes sir?? Background music resembles his everyother movie!
Locations of the songs were good.

Surya!! Its difficult to get into the shoes of kamal hasan. But he has definitely taken that path. Kamal also did masala movies, but not as illogical as this one. Its even more distressing because of his next movie. Singam. Stills explain loads already!!
Surya, you are a very good actor. We don’t want you to do craps like these!!

Ksr!! Is this the man who directed dasavatharam, panchathanthram, thenali?? Ohhh!! These were kamal movies. Right!!!
10 yr old surya,a good attempt! Though I don’t see the necessity!!
Last scene is about what to come in the future. Udayanidhi the hero!! Well, lets wait for it!!

Overall!! Average movie!! For surya fans, it’s a let down. You can still watch it for Vadivelu and why not, Surya!! Better luck for the movies that are to come after Singam!!

My Rating: 2/5!

Priya Goes Blogging!!!

Blogging atlast!! One thing I wanted to start days back!!

Writing has always been my passion. Its distressing to take in the impact of Text messaging!! It strikes us only when we are to write a formal letter or type a mail!! "My god!! whats up with my writing skills???" is the shocking reaction.

Honestly I want to improve my writing and here I am Blogging!! Ofcourse, a forum to Write what we feel is a delight!!
Hope I do make reading enjoyable! Its just a start, I am sure it will get better as time flies!!

Welcome to My World!!
